Polymer Clay Jewelry Creations

Posted by designsbymrk at 12:53 AM on May 20, 2009 Comments comments (0)

I have been recently working more and more with polymer clay.  It is truly a versatile sculpting compound, where the possibilities are endless as to what you can design and create with it.  I will have some stretch bracelets and one design line I am so thrilled about which I am calling The New American Native, as I feel it has a truly unique, possibly diverse cultural feel to the piece itself.  It is quite an eye catcher!

I have designed and created the cabonchon to match the beautiful Amazonite stones that Mother Earth has designed and created.  I also created the accent beads and gold disks with mica that flank each, as well as the matching clasp.  After baking the clay pieces and allowing them to cure, I hand sand each piece to ensure a high luster when I finish up with a machine buffing, which also brings up the mica in the gold polymer clay.  It is quite a substantial piece but, not too heavy of a necklace.  I have used multiple strands of fine brass wire which are very strong, and creative brass o-rings for the cabochon to connect with the rest of the necklace, as it is quite a durable piece as well.

Spring Is Here!

Spring is here! At least in most areas of the United States. Still a lil iffy here in Ohio  but, that doesn't stop me from wanting to do a lil spring cleaning. whether it be my home or my jewelry designing!  I have been working in polymer clay gathering all the books and such on techniques new to me and I have been having alot of fun in learning.  Using the right equipment is always a good day for shopping! I have found that utilizing the various bead rollers and hand tools can totally change the look of your work in making it so much more precise.

I recently purchased the amaco focal bead roller, and I must say it makes beautiful 30x18mm focal beads and that sparks my creativity in design patterns, color pallettes and the different effects one can achieve with polymer clay.

Also, I am going to my local hardware store to see if I can get my hands on some sheet aluminium to make my own bead rack as those can be quite pricey.  but, it seems I could easily fashion one using a couple simple folds in the metal, and using my jewelers saw, I could saw some notches out to support my bead pins . . . viola'

Free Shipping in the U.S. is back!

Posted by designsbymrk at 08:02 PM on March 08, 2009 Comments comments (0)

I offered this a few years ago when I launched my first jewelry website featuring my handcrafted jewelry designs.  In these difficult economic times in this country, as well as, around the planet I am bringing free shipping back for jewelry purchases in the United States.  I feel, we as Americans need to help one another out in any way, shape or form.  And this is doing my part.  It will take me a couple days here to get it all up and functioning properly.  But, I will announce again when it is up and running!

*hugs to everyone!

Congratulations!

Hello Everyone!

I been optimizing my web site here at Designs by MRK and getting alot of responses for Link Exchanging which helps in page ranking and popularity.  Because when you exchange links with other webmasters that have a links page you also appear in the searches of where your page is alo located, sooo It is a good and free! way to spread your name and web site around.  Included in my Links page are some free services where you can exchange links with whom you do the choosing, you can either reject the job (web site) or trade links! simple as that.

Make it a Great Week!

My site is finally verified by google!

Posted by designsbymrk at 03:46 PM on January 08, 2009 Comments comments (0)

This has been a real  webmaster challenge! But, I am finally verified!! whoohoo, I am so happy as this has been a real dilemma all over the WorldWideWeb! and believe me when I say, I have searched thru numerous blogs, help forums, you name it, I been there scouring the pages on how to do this correctly.  didn't find the answer and tried just about everything, as I have in the past, built my own websites from the bottom up with frontpage, to which getting google verified had never been a problem until now!

How did I do this you ask? I will walk you step by step as to "just" how I did this enormous feat! LOL First, make sure you have signed up for your google account that gives you access to the WebMaster Tools & Google Analytics.  because after you get your site veriified, you will want the feature to be able to track activity coming and leaving your web site, and it is all FREE!

Okay, so you have signed into your Google WebMaster Tools and you have added your website, and now it is asking you to verify your site. Yes, there are 2 choices in which to accomplish this task: meta tag, or html.  I choose the html method.  And, yes you can do create this with any word processing program.  I did mine using WordPerfect. Don't worry about the program extension it will place at the end of the html you just created. Just save it like it is, in my case it was saved as: googlefile.html.wpd - don't copy this filename and try to use it because, this will not work, it is just an example :-)  To do this, all I did was open my WordPerfect and pulled down "file" and clicked on "new".  Okay, now you are looking at a blank document, and that is great!,  as you should be.  What I did was go back to my Google verification page with the html file you need and highlight that name and right-click to copy it all, the name and all the numbers including the .html of the google file.  Now go up to "file" and click on "save as".  and in that screen that wants you to name your file, right click again in that area and paste the google file name with the html extension also and. save it!  It will look like: google4563nr887.html.wpd or .html.txt or .html.doc - whatever your program puts as its file extension.

Now, sign into webs.com and go to File Manager and click on upload a file. find your file in your "MY Documents" and cllck on that and "upload".  It should now appear in your web directory as like: google453nr387.html.wpd, or whatever your file extension is. Click on "rename" and when the screen pops up remove the wpd, doc or txt  then, it will give you a screen that says it may not be readable, I don't remember exactly what it says but in essence it says it may not work, and that is ok!! So just click ok.  Now your document file is in your directory for your websiteand, that is important because google will go over there and check your web site's root directory which is just a "/" mark for the html file.

Whew! this is quite a possess but, well worth it in gettin in the search engine! Be patient as it will take weeks, months for your site to show up in the google searches. Now return to your google verification page where you got the code and at the bottom of the page it will have a link that says I have upload the file into www."yourwebsitename".com/ and click on that highlighted link and another screen should come up with that html file you just uploaded into your web site's directory, it should appear like a bunch of symbols and codes that you really can't read, that is EXCELLENT!! because when that actions occurs you have yer site verified! close that window and the google screen should have changed to the "your site has been verfified by google" . . . something like that! and that is an awesome feeling!

your done! finished, fine' . . . Congratulations!!!

**if you have any questions or problems, please don't hesitate to contact me and I will help you!

Much Success to You!

Marilyn

Everyone have a great week! and I will continue to get more jewelry up for you to see =)
